Hermès Birkin 35 in Bleu Électrique Porosus Crocodile

Hermès Birkin 35 in Bleu Électrique Porosus Crocodile

This particular model on hand is crafted from the most luxurious crocodile skin available. The French house sources its crocodiles from Australia, specifically the Porosus Crocodile, famous for their symmetrical and beautifully even scales. It takes about three to four crocodiles to make one bag - only the belly is used to craft the bag, as they haven't been exposed to natural elements that would have damaged its quality. Only about 3,000 exotic bags are produced yearly, which makes getting your hands on one of these rare beauties quite difficult, especially in this decadent yet modern color called "Bleu Électrique".

A Hermès Dream Come True

A Hermès Dream Come True

A few weeks ago, while at a private auction, we discovered the holy grail of Hermès bags, a “sac de vitrine”. A “sac de vitrine” style bag means that the item produced was for merchandising purposes only, for the iconic rue du Faubourg-Saint-Honoré store. This piece was never intended to be sold or made available to the public. This handbag is a true gem, a piece so rare and special, that only a Hermès aficionado could understand its real value. This piece was so extraordinary, it actually made us gasp (under our breath)! As we didn’t want to attract too much attention to this bag, since this piece would be considered priceless, to those whom it would be recognized by.

Hermès Debuted Their Home Collection, Hermès en lumière to Elyx and the World at Milan Design Week 2014

The imagination behind Hermès' continues to impress us with their innovative designs and clever ad campaigns. Milan Design Week 2014 kicked off yesterday in the fashion capital and there was no shortage of beautiful Hermès home creations. Their new collection of home decor entitled Hermès en Lumière debuted another stunning assortment of furniture, china and textiles. The French fashion house added a clever, cute twist to the debut of their new line with a new companion, Elyx. Elyx is a small sketched character by Yacine AIT KACI. We loved how Hermès incorporated Elyx into their new collection, adding a fun and friendly twist to their high-end home decor.

How the Gucci Bamboo Handbag is Made

How the Gucci Bamboo Handbag is Made

The making of something iconic in fashion is never a guarantee. Designers work hard to make their pieces distinct, yet practical, trendy yet timeless. Artisans can never know how their designs will be received, if they will be adored or rejected by fashion followers and the general public. Whether the style will last a lifetime, or die out quickly as some fast fads do. The formula for finding the perfect medium between classic yet new is no easy feat, but they say behind every great achievement, is one damn good story. The Gucci Bamboo Handbag made its first appearance in 1947. The iconic bamboo bag was invented amongst the chaotic final stages of WWII. The aftermath of the war left most of Europe struggling with a severe rationing of resources. The artisans at Gucci were feeling pressure to find alternative materials to work with.
