Founded in 1854, the French Fashion house, Louis Vuitton distinguished themselves through their fabulous trunks and luggage pieces. The Maison was commonly referred to as Louis Vuitton Malletier (fancy word for trunk-maker).
Louis Vuitton is the most relevant fashion House of our time. Their iconic monogram print is both internationally recognized and adored.
Surprisingly, the Damier print came long before the monogram, in 1888 to be exact. Mr. Louis Vuitton began trying to set himself apart from his competitors once they started copying his classic beige and brown stripped designs. The iconic monogram print was first introduced in 1986 by George Vuitton (Louis Vuitton's son).
In 1987, the French multinational luxury goods conglomerate LVMH came to life. Bad boy Marc Jacobs was hired in 1997 to revamp the image of Louis Vuitton to reach a wider and younger audience. The collections he created for the French house were extremely well received over the 16 years he worked for the brand.
In 2013, Nicolas Ghesquière took the reins for the Ready-to-wear collections and Darren Spaziani took over the accessories department.
